“Ruhter shot his first wet plate photo in December of 2010 during a photo shoot with skateboarder Levi Brown. It could have been a disaster — flash heads exploded all over Brown from the heat of the lights needed to expose the wet plate — but the 8×10 shot of Brown doing an ollie turned out ghostly and beautiful. It was the first instance that he knew of motion being caught on a wet plate. Ruhter was hooked.”
